DEVORAH STAVISKYMONTGOMERY COUNTY ORGANIZER

Devorah joined the JUFJ Campaign Fund as a Montgomery County Community Organizer in August 2020. She previously worked as the Director of Youth Engagement at Temple Emanuel of Kensington, Maryland. Born in Chile and raised in the Reform Jewish community, Devorah is passionate about merging faith with progressive activism.

Devorah graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Maryland, College Park (UMD) with a major in Sociology and a minor in Rhetoric. While at UMD, she co-created Shevat Breirah, a community of progressive Jewish students grounded in ritual and social justice. Devorah’s organizing experience includes coordinating both MaryPIRG’s successful Ban Fracking Campaign (2017) and MaryPIRG’s New Voters Project (2016), which registered over 1500 students to vote in the 2016 election cycle. As a Machon Kaplan fellow with the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism, she interned at the Center for Political Accountability to track state-level campaign donations. She is also a graduate of JUFJ’s 2020 Don’t Kvetch, Organize! fellowship and IMPACT’s Weaver Learning Lab fellowship.

In her free time, you can find Devorah volunteering with Young People for Progress, biking through Rock Creek Park, and creating word art of all kinds — she really likes to make rhymes.
