A native of Ohio, Zach is a proud graduate of Kent State University. He was raised by a single mother in a dying Rust Belt town; after she suffered a stroke and became disabled, Zach spent most of the next ten years working in the service sector to support her before she passed away. This experience transformed his understanding of the role of politics: if health care were a right rather than a privilege, his mother would have received the preventative care she needed. Zach is committed to building the conditions to bring about such a world.

In college, Zach interned in the Ohio Senate and U.S. Senate, and interned in the U.S. House of Representatives after graduating. He has served as treasurer for several grassroots campaigns, and served as campaign manager for his wife Sarah’s successful election to the Montgomery County Democratic Central Committee.

In his spare time, Zach is a movie buff, a theatre kid, and a devotee of geek culture. He and his wife enjoy staying up far too late watching classic genre television. He loves his adopted state of Maryland but will always stay loyal to Ohio in his heart.

Zach uses he/him/his pronouns.
